WALL PROXIMITY: TRAINING YOUR SPATIAL SENSE
9 min · Full library · written from fifteen years in the terrain
The point
After this lesson you can train proximity progressively with cones and references so that running close to walls later is a measured skill, not a gamble.
Half the answer, free
The Technique
- Proximity is trained, never dared. The drivers who run door-on-wall built that accuracy over years, starting with objects that forgive. This lesson builds the measuring instrument in your head; it does not send you at concrete.
- Learn your car's corners. Parked, walk the car and touch the exact rear corner. Most drivers misjudge their rear bumper by half a metre. You cannot place what you cannot locate.
- Cone before wall, always. Replace every wall with a cone line and drift with the rear bumper tracking it. Cones report your error honestly and cheaply. Clip counts per ten runs are your score.
