ON-TRIP RECOVERY: RIDE EVERY DAY YOU PAID FOR
7 min · Full library · written from fifteen years in the terrain
The point
On the trip, recovery is a daily job that takes twenty minutes, and it is the difference between riding day five and spectating it.

The Technique
- The evening triage, in order: refuel within a couple of hours of finishing - proper carbohydrate and protein, real food - and do it before the bar, not instead of dinner.
- Sleep is a line item, not leftovers. Consistent bedtime, dark cool room, and negotiate the group's alarm once rather than fighting it nightly.
- The ten-minute flush: easy walk plus the roller and the mobility circuit across hips, quads and forearms. It is the same routine from The Base, now doing its real job.
Still under the glass
- 3 more technique steps
- The 3 mistakes that undo it, with fixes
- The drill that builds the reflex
- The safety non-negotiables
