TRAMPOLINE: AIR AWARENESS FOR SKIS AND BOARDS
10 min · Full library · written lesson, video in production
After this lesson you know how to use trampoline time to build the air awareness behind spins and flips, so your first attempts on snow are repetitions of something your body already knows.
The Technique
- Air awareness - knowing where you are mid-air and where the landing is - is the skill under every spin, flip and even every accidental launch off a windlip. It is almost impossible to learn safely on snow first, and almost free to learn on a trampoline.
- Start with the boring gold: straight bounces with a tight body, arms set, eyes on a fixed point. Height without control is nothing; control without height is everything.
- Learn the four basic shapes before any rotation: tuck, pike, straddle, straight. They are your mid-air controls - opening a shape slows rotation, closing it speeds rotation. That single fact is the physics of every trick you will ever do.
- Spins before flips: 180s, then 360s, spotting the landing over your lead shoulder. The spot - snapping your eyes to where you land - is the skill; the rotation is just what happens around it.
The second half of the technique, the common mistakes, the drill and the safety non-negotiables open when you book a trip that runs physical conditioning. Your booking unlocks this whole library.
