9 min · Full library · written from fifteen years in the terrain
The point

The Technique
- Momentum beats crawling. Second gear steady beats first gear surging - the bike wants smooth drive, not bursts.
- Stand, knees soft, grip loose. The bars will slap over rocks; let them.
- Line: find the dirt ribbon between the rocks and plan two moves ahead. Eyes up, always.
- Cover the clutch with one finger. A stall on a rock step drops you; slipping the clutch smooths the drive through it.
Still under the glass
- 3 more technique steps
- The 3 mistakes that undo it, with fixes
- The drill that builds the reflex
- The safety non-negotiables
