SPINNING: THE 360, DIALLED
12 min · Full library · written lesson, video in production
After this lesson you know how a 360 actually works on a bike - where the spin comes from, where your eyes go, and the progression from trampoline hips to dirt - so the rotation stops being a mystery and becomes a technique.
The Technique
- The 360 is the gateway rotation of slopestyle, and it is misunderstood: the spin is not thrown mid-air. It is set on the lip - by carving up the take-off, leading with eyes and shoulders, and letting the bike follow the corkscrew your upper body already started. By the time the wheels leave, the rotation is decided.
- The pieces to pre-own: trampoline 360s with a spotted landing (from the conditioning library) until the mid-air head snap is automatic, and hip jumps - because a 360 is a hip take-off that keeps going.
- Where the spin actually comes from (it is not your arms), and the two eye-beats that pull it around
- 5 more technique steps
- The 2 mistakes that undo it, with fixes
- The drill that builds the reflex
- The safety non-negotiables
