The point
Nothing you do in the last week makes you fitter, but plenty can make you tired - so cut volume, protect sleep and pre-shift your body clock.

The Technique
- The taper: final-week training volume roughly halved, everything easy to moderate, last proper session two to three days before you fly. Fitness is already banked; fatigue is the only thing left to manage.
- Bank sleep the honest way: a consistent eight hours across the whole final week. You cannot store sleep like fuel, but you can stop arriving in debt, and most people fly already owing.
- Big timezone changes (Canada-sized, not New Zealand-sized): shift bedtime and wake time 30-60 minutes a day toward destination time for three to four days before flying.
Still under the glass
